The TÜBİTAK 1001 project titled “Modeling the Dynamics of Opinion in Social Media as a Differential Game and Automatic Detection of Trolls in the Network”, led by our faculty member Dr. Aykut Yıldız, has been successfully completed. Prof. Bülent Özgüler from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University contributed to the project as a researcher.
The main finding of the project is that social media trolls exhibit high fluctuations in their opinions due to their inconsistent behavior and their tendency to oppose other users. As a result, their opinions deviate significantly from the nominal opinion curve. Using these metrics, trolls were detected on social media with high accuracy.
